WHY GMOs AS WELL AS INTENSIVE AGRICULTURE ARE NOT ADAPTED AND DANGEROUS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND TO FEED THE WORLD? – English follows

107 scientifiques de 52 pays, qui ont consulté une centaine d’autres experts en plus, mais aussi 7.000 études et environ 30.000 commentaires, viennent de rendre un rapport sur les liens entre climat et alimentation en ce début août 2019. C’est la plus grande association internationale pluridisciplinaire de scientifiques sur un sujet crucial, le GIEC, qui traite de manière très complète ce sujet pour les gouvernements du monde. Ils pointent du doigt l’agriculture intensive, la désertification, le gaspillage de près d’un tiers de la production alimentaire mondiale, alors que la moitié de cette population est sous-nourrie, mal ou trop nourrie, développant de très nombreuses maladies chroniques. L’agriculture intensive est responsable de 30% des gaz à effet de serre qui perturbent le climat, selon eux, lequel réduit aussi les terres arables et la biodiversité. Cette pléthore de pétrole dépensé grâce à des subventions nous détruit pour gaver des camps de concentration de cochons, vaches et poulets comme nous l’avons déjà expliqué en 2014 avec Jérôme Douzelet dans « Poisons cachés ou Plaisirs cuisinés » (chez Actes Sud). 10 kCal de pétrole pour 1 kCal mangée d’agriculture à pesticides ! C’est le cas des OGM agricoles qui surconsomment aussi des pesticides, comme le soja OGM au Roundup, principale plante transgénique du monde qui désertifie notamment l’Amérique du Sud, essentiellement pour faire grossir notre mauvaise viande d’animaux en souffrance majeure dans leurs exploitations énormes.

Pourtant, fin juillet 2019, les gouvernements de l’Union Européenne ont permis l’autorisation à la consommation de neuf OGM dont sept nouveaux : Bayer et Monsanto, les perdants des tribunaux montrant les cancers liés à leur produit Roundup, mais aussi Syngenta et DuPont sont redevenus grâce aux aides politiques les grands gagnants de ces autorisations qui n’ont aucune justification scientifique sanitaire sérieuse, et même malhonnête (voir article sur Steinberg et col. sur ce site). Ces OGM contiennent – à eux tous – 16 nouveaux insecticides modifiés, des toxines qu’ils fabriquent directement dans la plante consommée, et surtout 8 d’entre eux absorbent beaucoup les herbicides phares de Bayer et Monsanto à base de glufosinate ou glyphosate, dont les fameux Roundup aux noms divers. Que vaut une politique destructrice malgré les avertissements qui se multiplient ? Il faut changer de cap, et vite, c’est la conclusion générale. Il y a des solutions : l’agroécologie et la permaculture qui pourraient nourrir 12 milliards d’individus de manière saine, comme des rapports internationaux l’ont souligné.

107 scientists from 52 countries, who have consulted a hundred other experts and more than 7,000 studies and about 30,000 commentaries, have just reported on the links between climate and food in early August 2019. This is the largest multidisciplinary international association of scientists on a crucial subject, the IPCC, which deals very comprehensively with this subject for the governments of the world. They question intensive agriculture, desertification, and the waste of almost a third of world food production, while half of the population is under-nourished, poorly or over-nourished, developing many chronic diseases. Intensive agriculture is responsible for 30% of climate-damaging greenhouse gases, they say, which also reduces arable land and biodiversity. This plethora of fuel spent – thanks to subsidies – destroys us to feed the concentration camps of pigs, cows and chickens as we already explained in 2014 with Jerome Douzelet in « The Great Health Scam” (Natraj Publishers). 10 kCal of petroleum for 1 kCal eaten for a pesticide-rich agriculture! This is the case of agricultural GMOs that also over-use pesticides, such as GM soybeans tolerant to Roundup, the main transgenic plant in the world that renders South America a desert, mainly to grow our bad meat of animals suffering a lot in their huge farm-factories.

However, at the end of July 2019, the governments of the European Union allowed the authorization for consumption of nine GMOs including seven new ones: Bayer and Monsanto, the losers of the courts showing cancers related to their Roundup product, but also Syngenta and DuPont – thanks to the political aids – are the big winners of these authorizations, which have no serious scientific and even dishonest justification (see article on Steinberg et al. on this website). These GMOs contain – to them all – 16 new modified insecticides, toxins they manufacture directly in the plant consumed, and especially 8 of them absorb a lot the flagship herbicides of Bayer and Monsanto based on glufosinate or glyphosate, like the famous Roundup with various names. What is the future of a destructive policy despite the growing warnings? We must change its course, and quickly, this is the general conclusion. There are solutions: agroecology and permaculture that could feed 12 billion people in a safe way, as international reports underlined.
